On March 20th, our college held a special lecture titled "The Saihanba Spirit: A Green Monument in the Centenary Spiritual Genealogy of the Communist Party of China and a 'Spiritual Model' for the Modernization of Harmonious Co - existence between Man and Nature". Yi Zhou, the Deputy Party Secretary and Editor - in - Chief of Chengde Daily, was invited to be the keynote speaker. He brought a wonderful lecture integrating ecological history, the history of the Communist Party of China, and governance wisdom to more than 200 teachers and students. The lecture was hosted by Yang Liu, the Deputy Party Secretary of the International College.
Yi Zhou reviewed the historical changes of Saihanba, from a royal hunting ground to a wasteland and then to the world's largest man - made forest. He told touching stories such as the first - generation forest planters like Shanghai Wang and Qien Zhang taking the lead in hard work, the "Six Women Going to the Dam" devoting their youth, and the couples in the fire - watching tower silently persevering. These stories demonstrated the miracle of transforming a wasteland into a forest created by several generations of people in Saihanba through their relay struggle. In the lecture, with "remaining true to the mission, working hard to start businesses, and pursuing green development" as the core, Yi Zhou deeply expounded on the rich connotations of the Saihanba Spirit. He pointed out that the Saihanba Spirit is not only an important part of the centenary spiritual genealogy of the Communist Party of China but also a vivid practice and valuable asset of China's ecological civilization construction.
Yi Zhou emphasized that the Saihanba Spirit is a green monument in the centenary struggle of the Communist Party of China and a "spiritual model" for the modernization of harmonious co - existence between man and nature. It is not only a witness of history but also a guide for the future, inspiring us to continue practicing the concept of green development on the new journey of the new era and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

After the lecture, Yang Liu put forward three hopes to the teachers and students: First, we should cultivate a strong sense of patriotism and set our life goals with the belief of "transforming a desert into an oasis". Second, we should temper our professional skills and engage in innovative practices with the perseverance of "planting one tree after another". Third, we should bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the times and write a youth answer sheet in the synchronous resonance between personal ideals and national rejuvenation. She pointed out that the Saihanba Spirit is not only a historical monument but also an action guide. She expected everyone to integrate it into their study and work and contribute to the construction of a beautiful China.
After the lecture, the students said that through the in - depth and easy - to - understand explanation by Editor - in - Chief Yi Zhou, they had a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the Saihanba Spirit. In the future, they would be guided by the Saihanba Spirit, bravely shoulder their missions, and strive to achieve great things on the journey of the new era!
